The Wall

I held your little body...
As you took your final breath...
I saw that fearsome face again...
The one that you call death...

I keep these things inside of me...
The reality that you were small...
I put in this shield I wear...
The one you call a wall...

It's not a wall...
It's just something you can't touch...
It's where I have to go and hide...
When I hurt so much...

When the crack is open....
And the gap is wide...
I slam the door, so you can't see...
This pain I keep inside...

It's something I don't like...
But have to keep alive...
For if I ever loose it...
I know I won't survive...

It's something that will stay with me...
Even after I have died...
It's all the hurt that I have lived...
And all the tears that I have cried...
