Dear Fellow Travelers on the Journey of Life,
My name is Elisabeth and I live in Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
I was born, raised and educated in the Netherlands as the seventh and
youngest child in a family in which education was very important. I was
exposed to languages from a very young age, and when I started learning the
three compulsory languages in school (besides my native Dutch), I was very
excited.
I became a teacher , following my parents' footsteps and for one year my
father was, besides my parent, teacher and principal, also my colleague.
Before coming to Canada as a young teacher, I traveled a lot in Europe and my
teaching years here in a multi cultural environment as well as my recent
travels have helped me to continue practicing the seven languages I speak
My religious background was Calvinistic which is very strict and filled with
images of hell and damnation and a God who loves conditionally and punishes
sinners. This has had a tremendous influence on my life and not until
recently do I understand the things that have happened to me, including much
abuse, because of this.
I started writing when I was quite young, but most of my poems are from the
time I emigrated to Canada. My journey tells of much loneliness and pain, but
I have now learned that I am lovable for who I AM and not for
what I DO.
I hope my sharing with you may help you on your own journey to
love and light
